Meta Integrity

I joined Facebook (now Meta) back in 2019 and spent two years there supporting the Community Integrity team as a design lead, building protection and support experiences across Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram.

Our team’s work focussed predominantly on enforcement and behavioural change, helping to tackle integrity challenges stemming from behaviours involving nudity, self harm, child safety, suicide, and terror organisations.

I led the team through the design and execution of several flagship integrity products across the family of apps, including the content takedown experience and Account Status; collaborating closely with external stakeholders (Government bodies, Non-profits, and NGO's) to inform the direction and focus of our efforts.

Outside of the pixels, I was able to work with the team to improve the design culture, process, and cross-functional collaboration. A stand-out project for me here was co-leading a work stream to introduce new standards for design quality within the integrity org, creating a measurable framework that acted as a roadmap requirement.

Ultimately, I left the team in May of 2021 as I felt fundamentally mis-aligned with the direction and principles of the company – in honesty though, this was the case from day one.

The decision to join was driven by the desire to create positive change at-scale; coincidentally, this is also what drove me to leave.
